The U.S. Army Medical Command’s Western Regional Contracting Office intends to make a sole source award to Candela for the procurement of a Candela V-Beam Perfecta Gray Laser System valued at $72,370. This equipment will be installed at Bassett Army Community Hospital, Fort Wainwright, Alaska, for use in the Dermatology Clinic. The laser system is specifically intended to treat various vascular lesions, including port wine stains, hemangiomas, and abnormal scars. Notably, the Candela V-Beam Laser System features an integrated cooling mechanism that enhances patient safety by minimizing the risk of burns and other treatment-related complications, distinguishing it from other lasers operating at a similar 595nm wavelength. The procurement process is governed by the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 13 using Simplified Acquisition Procedures, and no formal solicitation will be issued. Although this is a notice of intent for a sole source award, vendors capable of supplying comparable equipment are invited to submit documentation demonstrating their product’s capabilities within three calendar days of the notice’s publication. Responses will be used to inform potential future acquisitions. Communication regarding this notice must be directed in writing to the assigned Purchasing Agent via email, with no phone or fax inquiries accepted.
