The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is issuing a sole source purchase order to Thermo Electron Laboratory Equipment, LLC, for a BBD 6220 CO2 incubator and its accessories. The incubator features a 7.8 cubic feet volume, stainless steel inner casing and shelf system, 180-degree automatic sterilization, and has capabilities such as humidification water sterilization, an RS232 port, and central monitoring outputs. The accessories include stacking frames for vertical stacking of two units with locking casters, a gas tank monitor GM2 with automatic change-over between gas cylinders and central monitoring connection, and a two-stage CO2 gas regulator. The equipment must match specific size and gas regulation requirements due to spatial constraints and operational needs, especially the incubator’s capability for automatic steam sterilization to prevent microbial contamination. The procurement is conducted under federal acquisition regulations allowing sole source award as only one responsible source is believed to meet these specific requirements, negating the need for a solicitation. While other interested parties may express their capability, any alternative equipment proposed must meet identical specifications to be considered. This contract is not set aside for small businesses. For questions regarding the contract, Linda M. Young is the designated purchasing agent.
