The Department of Veterans Affairs, Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center, plans to award a sole source purchase order to Alere North America for the procurement of Triage BNP Tests and associated controls (Levels 1 and 2) used with government-owned Biosite Triage 1 & 2 analyzers. These products are essential for heart failure diagnostics. This procurement will be conducted under the authority of FAR 6.302, which allows negotiation with only one source due to Alere North America being the sole distributor and patent holder for these specific items. Alere North America also holds a Federal Supply Schedule contract for these products, underscoring their unique ability to meet the government's requirements. Interested parties who believe they can supply the Triage BNP Test or related controls are invited to submit a concise technical data package, no longer than two pages, demonstrating their capability by 1 pm on November 12, 2010. While the government will consider any timely submissions to determine whether a competitive procurement is warranted, the decision to proceed with a sole source award rests solely with the government. This notice serves purely as an informational announcement and is not a solicitation for bids or proposals. The contracting office point of contact for this action is Jean Mays at the Louis Stokes Cleveland Medical Center.
