The contract involves a sole source, firm-fixed-price award valued at approximately $450,000 to Alliant Healthcare Products for the procurement and installation of Skytron-branded operating room booms and lights at the Kansas City VA Medical Center. The equipment is intended for a newly constructed surgery room, aiming to maintain standardization of surgical equipment across all operating rooms within the facility. The Skytron system includes integrated ceiling-mounted lighting, audio, visual, and medical gas delivery components necessary for high-quality surgical care for veterans. Coordination with project engineers and maintenance representatives is required to ensure proper installation that meets utility, mounting, and scheduling requirements. This sole source procurement is justified under federal statutes allowing restricted competition when authorized by law and is conducted in accordance with the VA Acquisition Regulation parts 819.7007 and FAR 13.5. Market research confirmed that Alliant Healthcare Products is the exclusive authorized distributor of Skytron products among verified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs), making it the only eligible source for this acquisition. Fair and reasonable pricing was established through comparison with similar contracts. The contracting officials certified the necessity of this purchase, the validity of the justification, and adherence to regulatory procedures, with ongoing efforts planned to identify additional authorized distributors for future requirements.
