The Department of Veterans Affairs Cleveland Medical Center intends to award a sole source contract to Metro Medical Supply for a Patient Positioning System under NAICS code 334510, which covers instruments and related products manufacturing. The contract will specifically involve the SPIDER2 Limb Positioner, a device designed to facilitate proper patient positioning for shoulder, knee, and small joint arthroscopy procedures. This sole source determination is based on the contracting officer’s judgment that Metro Medical Supply is the only reasonably available provider meeting the fit and function requirements, as the CLE VAMC currently uses Smith and Nephew products. The solicitation and negotiation will proceed without a current solicitation available, with contractors invited to express interest and capability by June 16, 2022. Responses will guide the government’s decision on whether to competitively procure the item. All inquiries regarding the contract must be directed via email to Rachelle Hamer, the designated contracting officer, with the solicitation number included in the subject line. Responses submitted will be at no cost or obligation to the government and will solely serve to evaluate the need for competitive bidding. The contract is managed by the VA’s 250-NETWORK Contract Office in Dayton, Ohio, and the decision to maintain sole source procurement rests entirely with the government based on submitted information.
