The Department of Veterans Affairs, Orlando VA Healthcare System, through its Network Contracting Office 8, plans to award a firm-fixed price sole source contract to GE Healthcare for replacement parts specifically for digital X-ray machines. This procurement is justified under statutory authority 10 USC 2304(c)(1) and Federal Acquisition Regulations, which allow for a sole source award when only one responsible source is available and no other supplies or services will meet the agency’s needs. The procurement falls under NAICS code 334517, with a Small Business Administration size standard of 1,000 employees, and follows simplified acquisition procedures exempting it from full and open competition but requiring appropriate justification. The contract, identified by solicitation number 36C24821Q0433 and titled "6525--ORL/ Tube Replacement for Digital Xray," is being handled through FAR subpart 13.5 and FAR 13.106-1(b), which govern acquisitions from a single source. The contract specialist overseeing this purchase is Fernando G. Defillo, who can be contacted for questions or concerns. The award process does not involve a competitive quote solicitation due to the unique capability of GE Healthcare to fulfill the requirement. The office address for contracting is in Tampa, Florida, indicating the administrative origin of the solicitation, while the performance presumably supports operations at the Orlando VA Healthcare System.
