The contract awarded by the Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 10, pertains to the upgrade of the VISN 10 Optical Lab Chip Separator system at the Richard L. Roudebush Veterans Medical Center in Indianapolis, IN. This firm fixed price contract, valued at approximately $44,300, was awarded to Satisloh North America, Inc. on December 18, 2025, following a sole source procurement under FAR 12.102. The acquisition involves supplying two Dual EU Chip Separator units compatible with the existing Satisloh HC6 coolant management system, along with a comprehensive turn-key installation. This installation includes transportation, rigging, removal of old components, and all necessary modifications to electrical, air, and water systems to enable the new chip separators to separate lens debris effectively from coolant fluids, facilitating improved resource recovery and operational efficiency within the ophthalmic lens manufacturing process for VA patients. The procurement does not provide detailed packaging, inspection, or quality standards, relying instead on compatibility with existing VA systems and the vendor’s proven capabilities. The place of performance is the VISN 10 Optical Lab located at the Veterans Medical Center in Indianapolis, while invoicing and payment administration are managed by the Ann Arbor Healthcare System contracting office. No formal evaluation factors, options, or special contract clauses are included due to the sole source nature of the award, and no socioeconomic or size status certifications were specified. The contractor is responsible for full performance and compliance with the technical requirements, with final inspection and acceptance undertaken by VA personnel at the delivery site. The contract was issued without competitive solicitation, reflecting the government’s determination that only the awarded vendor could meet the specific technical needs of this upgrade project.
