This modification to solicitation SB1341-02-Q-0656, issued by the Department of Commerce NIST, provides additional technical specifications for the procurement of a custom vacuum system. The update mandates that the foreline pump be positioned outside the vacuum chamber room, requiring vendors to account for ten feet of foreline plumbing between the roughing and turbo pumps, including at least two ninety degree bends. The final layout of this plumbing will be coordinated between the vendor and NIST following the award of a purchase order. Furthermore, the modification establishes strict quality control standards, requiring all welds to be leak checked using a helium mass spectrometer to a standard of 2x10-10 std. cc/sec. All other original terms and conditions of the solicitation remain unchanged. Interested parties must adhere to the response deadline of August 29, 2002.
