The solicitation FA8601-06-T-0054 is a sole source procurement intended for the acquisition of one Digital Camera System Model OMA-V:1024/LN2.2 from Princeton Instruments, located in Trenton, NJ. This system includes a specific set of components such as the PI Acton digital camera, a liquid nitrogen detector nose, an LN controller with a 100-kHz digitizer, a PCI interface package, and software for real-time data acquisition and processing compatible with Windows 2000/XP. The government’s need for this exact system arises from ongoing research requiring a duplicate camera for simultaneous data collection, and specialized student software has been developed exclusively for this equipment to support Masters and Doctoral level coursework. The solicitation explicitly states the government’s intent to negotiate with only one source under FAR provisions authorizing sole source contracting, underscoring the unique requirement for compatibility with existing research setups. While the notice is not a request for competitive bids, any responses received by the deadline of January 24, 2006, will be considered to inform a decision on whether to pursue a competitive procurement. The government reserves the right not to proceed with an award. All inquiries and responses must be directed to Mary Piper via fax or email, and relevant procurement information is available on the specified government website.
