66--NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE - Geokon Vibrating Wire Transducers

In accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i), the New Orleans District intends to award a sole source firm-fixed priced purchase order for vibrating wire transducers to Geokon, Inc. The work involves the St. Paul District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers installing vibrating wire transducers in the foundation soils beneath floodwalls constructed for the Hurricane Protection System in St. Bernard Parish in order to complete a Quality Assurance investigation. It is necessary to use Geokon transducers because they are fully compatible with the Geokon dataloggers that the St. Paul District already owns and will be using for this work. The equipment ordered will be: Fifty (50) Model 4500S-700KPA, Vib Wire Piezometer unvented 700 kpa (100 psi) Range within 10 pin connector and 02-250V6-E Cable; Thirteen (13) at 110', Thirteen (13) at 90', Twelve (12) at 70' and Twelve (12) at 50'; 4100 ft Model 02-250V6-E, Blue PVC Cable, 0.250", 2 Twisted Pairs; Fifty (50) Model 45000-20, 10-Pin Male Connector with Cap; One (1) Model GK-403, Vibrating Wire Readout Box. This notice of intent is NOT a request for quotations; however, interested parties may submit their capabilities and qualifications in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 10:00am CST on 14 March 2012. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government.
