AI Contract Overview
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Communications Branch intends to award a firm fixed price sole source contract to Qiagen, LLC, under the authority of FAR subpart 13.106-1(b)(1)(i) and (ii), which allows for non-competitive procurement when only one source is reasonably available. The contract falls below the Simplified Acquisition Threshold and covers the purchase of Qiagen consumable supplies critical for environmental DNA detection workflows, genomic DNA extraction, and sample preparation. These supplies, including DNeasy Blood & Tissue Kits, Investigator Lyse & Spin Basket Kits, Proteinase K, and collection tubes, are essential to maintaining federally mandated genetic monitoring and molecular ecology projects. Qiagen's products uniquely meet the technical and biological requirements needed for these processes, with no viable alternatives available that ensure full compatibility and performance. Although this announcement is not a solicitation for competitive quotes, parties interested in offering alternative solutions may submit statements of capability with evidence supporting competition benefits to the government. Responses must be submitted in writing via email by the specified deadline and should be sent only in Microsoft Word or PDF format to the designated point of contact, Carter Duke. Costs incurred in preparing responses will not be reimbursed, and no telephone inquiries or offers will be accepted. The requirement is classified under NAICS code 334516 for Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing, with a focus on laboratory equipment and supplies, reflecting the critical nature of these supplies in ongoing environmental and genetic monitoring initiatives.
