The Department of Veterans Affairs, specifically the VHA Regional Procurement Office Central, Network Contracting Office 10, plans to award a sole source contract to BIOPAC Systems, Inc. for the purchase of the BIOPAC MP160 data acquisition and analysis system along with its associated components. This system is intended for research purposes at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan. The research department requires this equipment to measure beat-to-beat blood pressure and breathing, with the capability to synchronize multiple physiological data streams, which is vital for the ongoing research efforts. The BIOPAC MP160 system is uniquely compatible with existing data collections in the lab and is the only system capable of measuring all required variables simultaneously, ensuring precise time matching critical to the project. This procurement falls under the NAICS code 334510 for Electromedical and Electrotherapeutic Apparatus Manufacturing, with a business size standard of 1,250 employees. The notice publicly announces the intent to sole source the procurement, satisfying federal acquisition regulations, but does not solicit competitive proposals or quotes. Responses should be sent by email to the designated contract specialist, but telephone inquiries will not be accepted. The decision to proceed without competition rests solely with the government.
