AI Contract Overview
The Department of Veterans Affairs, through Network Contract Office 23, is soliciting bids to procure laboratory cassette and slide label printers to replace aging equipment at multiple sites within VISN 23, including Fargo, Iowa City, and Central Iowa. Current printers at these locations have reached end-of-life status, resulting in increased service calls and operational downtime that hinder specimen preparation efficiency. The need extends beyond replacement to include modernized equipment with enhanced features to improve staff productivity, reduce ergonomic strain, minimize labeling errors, and establish consistent workflows, particularly at Central Iowa, which currently relies on manual labeling. The requirement calls for three new cassette printers and eight new slide label printers, distributed specifically to meet the needs of each facility: one cassette and two slide printers for each of Fargo and Central Iowa, and one cassette and four slide printers for Iowa City. All offerors must be actively registered in the System for Award Management and must comply with the Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business Set Aside provision identified under NAICS Code 334516. Proposals must be submitted by 18:00 CST on August 6, 2026, with any questions required to be submitted in writing by 13:00 CST on July 30, 2026, exclusively to the designated contract specialist. Deliveries are due no later than September 30, 2026, under FOB Destination terms to the specified performance location in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The solicitation is posted under number 36C26326Q0959, and all details including pricing, technical requirements, and delivery terms are outlined in the attached Statement of Work and Price/Cost Schedule.

Full Description
Background: Several sites in VISN 23 are in need of replacement and/or additional cassette and slide label printers. Fargo and Iowa City’s current cassette and slide label printers have reached end of their life expectancy and we have begun to see an increase in issues that require a service call. The increased downtime of these machines greatly impacts the speed and efficiency of the labs in preparing specimens. Additionally, the labs are seeking newer models of equipment which have additional features that would increase the speed and efficiency of the staff in preparing specimens. Central Iowa is currently hand labeling their cassettes and slides and is in need of this equipment to maximize productivity, decrease ergonomic strain, reduce errors, and create continuity.
Purpose of Project: Obtain 3 new cassette printers and accessories (1 each for Central Iowa, Iowa City, and Fargo) and 8 new slide label printers (4 for Iowa City and 2 each for Central Iowa and Fargo).
