Full Description

The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to negotiate solely with Computer Associates, 2291 Wood Oak Drive, Herndon, VA 20171, under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Computer Associates is the only known source that can provide SSA with increases in licensing authority and maintenance support for 73 Government-owned Computer Associates (CA) software products, in the form of an unrestricted Enterprise License. The Enterprise License must be based on SSA's mainframe processing capacity, expressed in Millions of Instructions Per Second (MIPS), and will be tied to the current and projected growth in MIPS for the next 2 years. This effort will allow unrestricted usage of all CA software products on any mainframe system installed at the National Computer Center and a future processing facility (location currently unknown). Support will be required for at least one year with an option for an additional year. When responding to this announcement, respondents should refer to reference SSA-CASOFTWARE. Responses to this notice should be submitted by February 6, 2006. Oral communication is not acceptable. Notice of Agency Intent - If no responses (other than from Computer Associates) are received, SSA intends to issue a modification to an existing contract with Computer Associates. This modification will: 1) allow SSA to acquire additional MIPS as required; and 2) provide increased maintenance support on a prorated basis.
