BRAND NAME JUSTIFICATION: Due to HIPAA's requirement to securely erase data from computers, it is necessary for OIG to purchase the HDTD-8200 degausser. This degausser meets HIPAA's and OIG's requirements. OIG utilizes software that is approved by Department of Justice to securely erase data. The degausser is a safe, secure means to erase data even if the hard drive is not accessible by software. One degausser would need to be shipped to each of the following 10 (ten) regional office locations: Atlanta (Zip Code: 30303), Balitmore (21244), Boston (02203), Chicago (60601), Dallas (75242), Kansas City (64106), New York (10278), Philadelpia (19106), San Franciso (94102), and Washington DC (20201). This solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2005-09. FAR 52.212-4, Contract Terms and Conditions-Commercial Items, applies to this acquisition and no addenda are included to the clause.
