Radio Program Branch Technicians operate in various environments in over 230 posts throughout the world. Toughbook Laptops are ater resistant for mobile installs in bad weather. They are rugged for world travel and longevity of laptop is needed due to use in vehicles and outdoor locations. The special serial port is used for programming of legacy equipment. Wireless is used to access online tools, updates, and installed software from equipment vendors. The GPS system is needed for locating remote tower sites around the world and creativity propogation studies of radio signals in foreign and domestic locations. As this is a brand name only justification, no one contractor's unique qualifications are cited as the basis for this justification. Rather, the products identified by brand name herein have been determined to be the most cost effective means to meet the DS desktop support requirement.
