70 -- PMRF R&D Networks Equipment

The Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization - Pacific has a requirement for Cisco Switches and Dell Laptops. Cisco equipment is required for full and compatibility and integration into a research and developmental network at the Pacific Missile Range Facility, Barking Sands, Hawaii. Previous attempts to integrate Cisco, Nortel, Bay Networks, and Enterasys network equipment did not provide a usable network. Interoperability issues between the listed manufacturers prevented reliable multicast and unicast traffic delivery. The standardization of Cisco equipment is required to accommodate the varied types of experimentation performed. Use of non-Cisco products has (based on previous tests) altered the anticipated or measured results of the experiments performed. The equipment must be new with valid software licenses, maintenance, and warranties. Dell laptops are required for the following salient characteristics: 1) integrated RS-232 serial interface (9-pin); 2) integrated Smart Card; 3) easily removable primary hard drives (for switching between classified and unclassified networks); 4) integrated biometric fingerprint reader; 5) externally disabled (on/off switch) wireless network adapter; 6) Gigabit Ethernet interface; and 7) modular drive bay (floppy, DVD+/-RW, and secondary hard drive). Peripherals from existing older Dell laptops will also be reutilized (docking stations, primary hard drives, modular drives, etc.). The Dell laptops will be used for network monitoring and maintenance of classified and unclassified R&D networks at PMRF.This procurement is a 100% Small Business set-aside.
