Caltrans has approved an encroachment permit for AT&T California to excavate and replace an existing above-ground cabinet located within the right-of-way on State Route 2 at postmile 13.22 in Los Angeles. The work involves removing the current cabinet and installing a 3-inch by 5-inch underground splice box in its place, requiring excavation of a 6-inch by 4-inch area to lower existing conduits and cables. The excavation will reach a maximum depth of 54 inches, with an average width of 36 inches and a maximum length of 5 feet, and no new utilities will be relocated or new right-of-way acquired. Associated temporary traffic control measures will be implemented to ensure public safety during construction.
