The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is planning to award a sole source purchase order to Sterling Commerce (MID America) LLL based in Dublin, Ohio, for the renewal of a perpetual license covering the use, support, and maintenance of the Connect Direct software. This software facilitates disk space management and mainframe-to-mainframe bulk data transfers, which are critical to CDC’s operations. Sterling Commerce holds the proprietary rights to this product, including copyrights, patents, and technical data, making it the only vendor capable of providing the necessary support and maintenance due to CDC’s reliance on the software and prior investment. This sole source procurement follows the authority outlined in FAR part 6.302-1 and does not involve a competitive solicitation. However, other firms that believe they can provide the required services are invited to notify the Contracting Officer in writing within five days from the synopsis publication date. The CDC will consider any responses solely to decide whether to initiate a competitive procurement, with the final decision resting entirely with the Government. Linda M. Young is the designated purchasing agent and point of contact for inquiries regarding this purchase order.
