The U.S. Army Natick Soldier System Center intends to award a firm fixed price purchase order on a sole source basis to Alaska Structures Inc., Anchorage, AK, for the procurement of a specialized Bump-thru Door Vestibule. This structure is a pole-supported fabric component designed to interface with the AMEDD Small Shelter and Bump-through doors on the Collectively Protected Expeditionary Medical Facility (CP-EMF) program. The Bump-thru Door Vestibule is unique to this program due to its compatibility requirements with the CP-EMF system, which provides chemical and biological protection, making it critical that the component has been previously tested and approved as part of the program. Market research has indicated that there are very few suppliers capable of producing a compatible item, and none besides Alaska Structures Inc. have demonstrated compatibility with the CP-EMF system. Alternative suppliers would require an extensive retesting process to confirm suitability for all environmental conditions, and no other sources have been identified. As such, this procurement is justified under FAR Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1) for other than full and open competition, with no plans for future acquisitions of this specific item. Interested parties may express interest for future considerations by contacting the designated U.S. Army contracting office.
