The Supply Directorate at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point intends to award a sole source purchase order to Tidewater Air Services, LLC for the procurement of 6,000 gallons of LL100 AVGAS fuel. This fuel is required for an upcoming air show and must be available for government pickup at the contractor's facility between May 21 and May 23, 2010. To ensure operational efficiency, the government requires the pickup location to be within a one-hour round-trip travel distance from the base. Classified as a commercial item under FAR Part 12, the procurement is being handled as a sole source because market research indicated Tidewater Air Services is the only capable provider within a reasonable driving distance. While this is not a formal request for competitive quotes, the government will consider offers from other responsible sources that demonstrate unique capabilities or submit quotes within fifteen days of the notice publication. The final decision to compete the contract remains at the sole discretion of the government.
