The Joint Program Manager Decontamination is conducting a market survey to identify non-developmental solutions for a Contaminated Human Remains Transport System. The government is seeking information on systems that can facilitate two distinct processes: the safe transport of remains from the point of fatality to a Mortuary Affairs Decontamination Collection Point, and the subsequent transport of decontaminated remains from that point back to the Continental United States. Vendors may provide information on either or both of these capabilities. Interested parties must submit a white paper by August 20, 2007, detailing product capabilities, dimensions, weight capacities, cost per system, and power requirements. Key technical evaluations will focus on the system's ability to prevent leaks and off-gassing, its durability when exposed to military decontaminants, and its compliance with UN and IATA standards for hazardous material transportation. Selected candidates for further review will be notified by mid-September 2007.
