The 37th Contracting Squadron at Lackland Air Force Base plans to award a purchase order to Time Warner for the provision of a fiber network line, specifically a 10 Mbps dedicated internet connection for the Defense Language Institute English Language Center (DLIELC) located in Building 7445. The contract includes a 12-month term for dedicated internet access, installation services, and managed security services, which encompass firewall-based antivirus, antispyware, and intrusion prevention, along with the necessary hardware. Due to restrictions on trenching at the base, the existing infrastructure with Time Warner’s fiber line and connection box outside the building will be utilized. This contract award is intended to be a sole-source procurement under the authority of FAR 13, emphasizing that no competitive quotes are being solicited. The place of performance is identified as Lackland AFB, Texas. The Department of Defense's 502 Contracting Squadron is managing the procurement process, with Elizabeth Perez serving as Contract Specialist and Rose E. Mora as Contracting Officer, both reachable for inquiries related to the acquisition. The action supports the continued secure and reliable communication needs of the base, while leveraging pre-existing external infrastructure.
