The US Army RDECOM Contracting Center plans to award a sole source purchase order valued at $23,756 to SRC, Inc. This follow-on contract continues from a previous agreement where SRC procured, integrated, and tested rugged data collectors for the FORESTER airborne radar system. Recently, two data recorders from a FORESTER system were involved in a hard landing potentially causing damage; these units now require a thorough evaluation by SRC and the original vendor, Ampex, to assess their suitability for continued use. Following this assessment, SRC will re-integrate the units onto the flight platform and conduct ground tests to ensure proper functionality. SRC is uniquely qualified for this work due to its comprehensive familiarity with the FORESTER system, including its subsystems such as the flight recorder, stemming from their prior research and design implementation. The contract, designated as "A--Additional FORESTER Data Collector Work," is associated with solicitation number W91CRB-11-R-0004 and is managed by the Department of Defense office located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. This targeted procurement supports maintaining operational readiness of the airborne radar system without involving other contractors.

Full Description

US Army RDECOM Contracting Center intends to award a purchase order to SRC, Inc. in the amount of $23,756.00 on a sole source basis. This action is a follow-on to contract W91CRB-10-C-0050. Under W91CRB-10-C-0050, Syracuse Research Corporation (SRC), Inc. procured, integrated and tested rugged data collectors on two A160s for the FORESTER airborne radar system. Two of the data recorders from a FORESTER system were recently involved in a hard landing which potentially caused some damage. These units require evaluation by SRC and the vendor, Ampex, to determine their suitability for future operations. Upon return of the units SRC will re-integrate the units on the flight platform and test the units on the ground to validate operation. There is no other contractor that is intimately knowledgeable of the FORESTER system and subsystems such as the flight recorder because SRC conducted all of the research and resultant design implementation.
