AI Contract Overview

The US Geological Survey (USGS) is collaborating with a range of partners including federal and state agencies, industry, academia, and international governments to advance the National Geochemical Survey and global mineral assessments. A key component of this effort is a Cooperative Research & Development Agreement (CRADA) established with ILUKA Resources Exploration Inc., intended to enhance and validate data from current and newly acquired core samples. The outcomes of this collaboration will be made accessible through USGS and other federal and state databases, promoting transparency and wider scientific use. Unlike traditional procurement contracts, this CRADA arrangement involves partners contributing funds, equipment, and in-kind services rather than a simple financial transaction. The contract notice, titled "A--Cooperative Partnership Notice and Opportunity," was posted on December 16, 2004, by the Office of Acquisition Grants-National within the Department of the Interior, located in Reston, Virginia. This partnership exemplifies a strategic effort to leverage combined resources and expertise to advance geochemical research and mineral data validation. For additional information about the scientific efforts or technology transfer processes related to this collaboration, contacts are provided within the USGS Technology Transfer Office.
