The Digital Maintenance Architecture Demonstration (DMAD) is a noncommercial cost plus fixed fee research effort aimed at creating a seamless automated maintenance environment for Army aircraft. The program seeks to integrate on-board maintenance data, Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals, and aircraft parts marking with a task-based management system. The project will be executed in two phases, beginning with the design and integration of software systems and the application of Automated Identification Technology for configuration management, followed by a demonstration phase to evaluate the system's functionality and benefits. The government intends to award this contract to The Boeing Company, as the manufacturer of the AH-64D Apache, identifying them as the only responsible source capable of meeting the requirements. The period of performance is approximately 24 months, with the project focusing on developing a maintenance information architecture and standard interfaces applicable to all Army aircraft. While the procurement is pursued as a sole-source effort under FAR 6.302-1, the government will consider proposals from any responsible source submitted by the July 5, 2002, deadline.
