A -- JOINT STARS WEAPONS SYSTEMS TRAINERS/NAVIGATOR TRAINING SYSTEMS

The contract focuses on upgrading the Joint STARS E-8C aircraft's Communication Navigation Surveillance/Air Traffic Management system by integrating a certifiable 8.33/25 kHz VHF Radio for Air Traffic Control voice communications and a new SINCGARS radio. This upgrade necessitates concurrent modifications to the Weapon System Trainers and Navigator Training Systems to maintain training currency for pilots, co-pilots, flight engineers, and navigators at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. The modifications will involve hardware and software changes to the simulators, ensuring that training platforms remain synchronized with the aircraft's enhancements and comply with Air Force Instruction guidelines and FAA qualifications for airplane simulators. The design and fabrication of the radio modification kits will be conducted by Rockwell Collins in Sterling, Virginia, after which the kits will be shipped to Robins AFB for installation and testing. These enhancements are aimed at aligning the training systems with the aircraft's upgraded radio capabilities and supporting increased flight training activities for the E-8C platform.
