NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center is seeking partnership opportunities through a formal solicitation aimed at gathering information about spacecraft bus concepts capable of supporting an integrated Precision Formation Flying (PFF) experiment system and technologies. The primary objectives include assessing the availability, cost, capabilities of the spacecraft buses, and the qualifications of organizations proposing to provide them. Selected partners will join a concept definition study team, contributing expertise mainly in spacecraft bus design and mission systems engineering, with activities scheduled from April 2006 through September 2006. This initial phase precedes a formulation refinement phase expected to begin following a November 2006 decision. The solicitation invites respondents to submit detailed presentations addressing specified requirements and adhering to formatting and submission guidelines, with deadlines in February and March 2006 for notices of intent and final presentations, respectively. Respondents are encouraged to engage with designated points of contact for information dissemination and clarification, with the understanding that this opportunity involves no exchange of funds in the concept study phase. However, funding may become available if the PFF concept advances to later development phases. Submissions must be treated as proprietary and delivered in presentation format both digitally and in hardcopy, with presentations and Q&A sessions conducted at Goddard Space Flight Center. This opportunity serves as a planning tool for NASA and does not constitute any binding commitment or procurement guarantee. Interested parties must actively monitor NASA’s business opportunities website for document releases and updates. An ombudsman is available to ensure fairness in the process.
