A--Sole Source Award to Oregon Iron Works for second SEALION craft

The Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division plans to enter into a sole source contract with Oregon Iron Works (OIW) for the construction of a follow-on SEALION Technology Demonstration Craft. This new craft will build upon the design, construction, and testing experiences gained from the initial SEALION vessel, as well as OIW’s ongoing efforts in modular payload development. The completed craft will serve as a test platform for the Navy to evaluate littoral warfare concepts and equipment. Additionally, there is an option for OIW to design and produce compatible modules and a transporter to support the craft’s operational versatility. The contract is expected to be of the Firm-Fixed-Price type, with an estimated performance period of approximately thirty months. The award is being pursued through a sole source negotiation, indicating a unique capability or relationship with OIW that justifies this procurement approach.
