The National Institute on Aging (NIA), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), plans to negotiate a one-year contract with MedStar Research Institute, including four additional 12-month option periods, to provide a broad range of clinical support services for its Intramural Clinical Research Program. These services encompass radiology, nuclear medicine, pathology, laboratory, pharmacy, nursing, administrative, clerical, dietary, molecular medicine, informatics, and safety functions. MedStar Research Institute is uniquely positioned to perform these services as the NIA has secured a lease with their Harbor Hospital facility for this purpose, making them the sole organization capable of fulfilling the contract requirements under the statutory authority provided. While this notice is not a formal Request for Proposal, responsible organizations that believe they have the capabilities and facilities to provide the required services may submit a proposal for NIH consideration. Correspondence related to this contract should be directed to the Division of Research Acquisition at the NIH in Bethesda, Maryland. The contracting officer managing this effort is Teresa A. Baughman, who can be contacted via phone or email for additional information. This contracting action is identified by solicitation number 260-02-06 and was initially posted on March 26, 2002.
