The contract involves the development and fabrication of Ultra High Temperature Cermet samples composed of Rhenium-Titanium Carbide (Re-TiC) and Rhenium-Zirconium Carbide (Re-ZrC) for the Air Force Flight Test Center at Edwards Air Force Base. The procurement, awarded as a sole source Firm-Fixed Price contract under the Federal Acquisition Regulation part 13, is intended to produce six rectangular sheets and five cylindrical samples suitable for extensive testing, including microstructure analysis, tensile strength at ambient and elevated temperatures, dilatometer and thermal conductivity tests, as well as subscale rocket engine tests. The contract uses a novel powder process to fabricate these samples, which must meet specific technical requirements to fulfill the Air Force Research Laboratory's needs. Interested contractors are requested to submit detailed technical quotes clearly demonstrating their ability to meet the government's specifications. The solicitation is unrestricted with NAICS code 541710, and the government’s anticipated award date is May 15, 2006, with proposals due no later than 4:00 p.m. PST on May 12, 2006. Submissions are directed to the Directorate of Contracting at Edwards AFB, with named contact points Ashleigh Baird and Marc Venzon.
