Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada has issued an Advance Contract Award Notice for high throughput genotyping services, intending to award the contract to SGS Institut Fresenius TraitGenetics. The scope of work includes performing pre-analysis quality checks on DNA samples, conducting HT genotyping on 5,760 samples using the proprietary 7K Wheat Array, and providing post-processing data manipulation to create a genotypic data matrix for Genomic Selection analysis. The estimated value of the contract is 177,126 CAD, with an initial term of one year and an option to extend for an additional year. The pre-identified supplier is selected because the current Genomic Selection analysis platform was developed around their proprietary technology and intellectual property. Other suppliers may challenge this sole-source intention by submitting a Statement of Capabilities by September 22, 2022, demonstrating that they are authorized resellers or distributors of the 7K Wheat Array. If no qualifying statements are received by the deadline, the government will proceed with the award to SGS Institut Fresenius TraitGenetics.
