Accessibility Design Reference Group

The West Yorkshire Combined Authority has awarded a contract to ADVONET to recruit, manage, and facilitate a new Accessibility Design Reference Group. This group will be composed of individuals with lived experience of disabilities, long-term health conditions, and other accessibility barriers, encompassing both physical and non-physical impairments. The primary objective of the group is to utilize this lived experience to identify and remove transport barriers across all modes of travel in West Yorkshire, providing essential design reference support to ensure the network is accessible to everyone. The contract is valued at 386,665.33 pounds excluding VAT and is scheduled to run from September 15, 2026, to September 14, 2029, with the possibility of a one-year extension. This initiative aims to integrate direct user feedback into the design and implementation of transport schemes to improve overall accessibility across the region.
