Cornerstone Research Group proposes the development of Acoustilytix, an intelligent bioacoustics system designed to detect and classify sounds emitted by plants under various stressors. By leveraging a proven software platform previously used for ultrasonic vocalization detection, the system will utilize machine learning to provide early warnings of stressors that could impact crop yields and nutrition. This technology aims to enhance the current state of the art by offering timely, specific data to mitigate the loss of mission critical crops during NASA's future long duration space missions and ISS plant research, while also providing benefits for field and greenhouse agriculture. This solicitation, numbered NASA-SBIR-158168, is issued by the NASA SBIR/STTR Program and is designated as a Total Small Business Set-Aside. The project is slated for performance at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Key personnel involved in the management and oversight of the project include Project Manager Orlando Melendez, Principal Investigator Catherine Ashley, and Program Director Jason L Kessler.

Full Description

Cornerstone Research Group (CRG) proposes to develop an intelligent bioacoustics system capable of detecting and classifying the bioacoustics produced by plants when exposed to various stressors, addressing the need to produce crops during NASA’s future space exploration missions. Plants have been shown to emit bioacoustics as a result of different stressors and provide a means for early detection of both gradually induced and sudden stressors that could impact grow yields and plant nutrition quality. CRG will leverage a previously developed technical readiness level 6 software platform that was developed for detecting and classifying rodent ultrasonic vocalizations (DHP SBIR W81XWH-17-C-0032 and NIH STTR 1R41MH121119-01) to create a bioacoustics monitoring system capable of detecting bioacoustics emitted by plants with integrated machine learning to classify different types of stressors. This approach will improve upon the current state-of-the-art by providing more specific and timely information about the nature of the stressors, allowing early intervention and mitigating the potential loss of mission critical crops. The proposed team’s track record of innovation positions CRG for successful development and implementation of this proposal to meet and exceed NASA’s operational needs.
Benefits: • ISS plant research • Future long duration space mission • Field and greenhouse agriculture • Plant research

Fast Assessment of Solutions, Therapeutics, Pharmaceuticals, and SupplieS (FASTPASS) Innovative Solutions Opening
Solicitation # ARPA-H-SOL-26-160
The Fast Assessment of Solutions, Therapeutics, Pharmaceuticals, and Supplies (FASTPASS) program, under solicitation ARPA-H-SOL-26-160, is an initiative by the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) to develop a near real-time, non-destructive, AI-enabled screening system. The goal is to identify contamination, adulteration, and quality defects in pharmaceutical products through their packaging at ports of entry and other supply-chain nodes using multi-modal sensing and data fusion. This 54-month program is structured into three 18-month phases, culminating in a fieldable platform with validated training materials and integrated documentation capabilities. This procurement is conducted as a multiple-award Other Transaction (OT) Agreement rather than a standard federal contract, meaning it is governed by specific OT articles instead of the Federal Acquisition Regulation. Awards are based on the most advantageous proposals, with primary evaluation factors including innovation, soundness, execution planning, risk management, and team expertise. Payments are fixed and triggered by the successful completion of milestones, managed through the Payment Management System. Proposers must be registered in SAM.gov and provide detailed technical and cost proposals, including a milestone payment schedule and research security disclosures. Amendment 01 specifically updated the cost proposal narrative model and workbook to correct typographical errors and rename appendices.

HYDROSPHERE, BIOSPHERE, & GEOPHYSICS (HBG) SUPPORT SERVICES II - FINAL REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (FRFP)
Solicitation # 80GSFC27R0015
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration Goddard Space Flight Center is soliciting proposals for the Hydrosphere, Biosphere, and Geophysics (HBG) Support Services II contract, under solicitation number 80GSFC27R0015. This small business set-aside is a hybrid Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with a five-year effective ordering period. The contract allows for the issuance of both Cost Plus Fixed Fee (CPFF) and Firm-Fixed Price (FFP) task orders to support science research and computing activities across various laboratories, including the Cryospheric Sciences, Ocean Ecology, Hydrological Sciences, Biospheric Sciences, Geodesy and Geophysics, and the Terrestrial Information Systems Laboratory. The primary objective is to develop and apply space, field-deployed, and laboratory-based technologies to address societal issues related to water resources, ecosystems, sea level change, and the Earth's magnetic and gravity fields. The scope of work encompasses scientific modeling, simulation, data assimilation, satellite instrument performance analysis, and the planning and execution of field campaigns. Performance will occur at the Goddard Space Flight Center and the contractor's facilities, with acceptance managed by the Contracting Officer or a designated representative. Award selection will be based on a tradeoff approach, prioritizing Mission Suitability as the most important factor, followed by Cost and Past Performance. Proposals must be submitted in four volumes, including a numerically scored Mission Suitability volume and a detailed Cost volume. Additionally, the contractor must adhere to strict security requirements, including the provision of a Cyber Supply Chain Risk Management plan and compliance with NDAA Section 889 regarding telecommunications and surveillance equipment.
