Full Description

The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) has awarded a sole source Firm Fixed Price (FFP) contract modification under contract N68335-11-G-0003 Delivery Order 0003 to General Atomics, San Diego, California for the procurement of On-Board Repair Parts (OBRPs) for the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) and Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG), as well as spare parts for the AAG Land Based Units (LBU) in support of the USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) Class aircraft carriers. The supplies and services procured under the contract action will provide the material and labor necessary to manufacture, assemble, inspect, integrate, test, and checkout OBRP and LBU spares. The contract was awarded in the amount of $39,482,377.00. General Atomics is the sole designer, developer, and manufacturer of the EMALS and AAG systems. As such, GA is the only source with the requisite knowledge, experience, and technical expertise to provide the required supplies and services. The awarded Order is for the supplies and services for which the Government solicited and negotiated with only one source under the authority of Title 10, U.S.C. Section 2304(c)(1), as implemented by FAR 6.302-1, "Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements."
