The Air Force issued a sources-sought notice, solicitation number FA3002-17-RFI-UHT, to explore contracting options for Undergraduate Helicopter Training (UHT) as part of efforts to address aircrew shortages. This request for information sought industry input on the potential to outsource training for Undergraduate Pilot Training-Helicopter (UPT-H) and Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training-Helicopter (SUPT-H). The research was conducted by the 338th Special Operations Contracting Squadron under the Air Education and Training Command (AETC) and Air Force Installation Contracting Agency (AFICA). After reviewing industry responses and evaluating various approaches, the Air Force decided not to pursue contracting UPT-H/SUPT-H, instead finding efficiencies through revisions to the T-6A training syllabi. The effort reflects the ongoing commitment to optimize aircrew training while addressing shortages. For further inquiries or updates, contact information for both the Chief of the Flying Training Section, Stephen S. Pritchett, and Contracting Officer Mark E. George, is provided, with all new information to be posted on the Federal Business Opportunities website.

_________________________________________________________________________ UPDATE 8 JUN 18 HQ AETC and AFICA 338 SCONS would like to thank industry for their helpful responses and frank interactions regarding the RFIs issued to research the potential to contract for UPT-H/SUPT-H. Contracting for UPT-H/SUPT-H was one of many approaches the Air Force considered in its ongoing efforts to address aircrew shortages. However, the Air Force has decided to no longer pursue this effort because of the efficiencies it gained from revising the T-6A syllabi. If any further information develops, it will be posted to FBO.gov. All questions related to this RFI should be addressed to Stephen Pritchett at stephen.pritchett@us.af.mil.
