Parks Canada (PC) requires a third party consultant to research soil and farmland quality along with local agri-economic and agri-touristic factors and develop per acre fair market rental rate(s) for agricultural field leases in Rouge National Urban Park (RNUP). Parks Canada expects that the consultant will familiarize themselves with all aspects of RNUP’s mandate, including supporting a vibrant farming community, protecting natural and cultural heritage, and providing Canadians and international visitors with high quality visitor experience opportunities.Once completed and accepted by Parks Canada, the consultant’s report will be an important consideration within the leasing strategy for the park. The report may be used to explain, set and justify rents (on a per acre basis) for new and existing farmers across the portfolio of agricultural lands that Parks Canada administers in RNUP.
