The Naval Air Systems Command awarded a modification to Contract N00019-11-C-0001 to Raytheon Company for the production of the Lot 13 AIM-9X Missiles and associated spare components. Raytheon has been the sole developer, designer, and manufacturer of the AIM-9X Missile. Raytheon is the only known source with the requisite data, technical knowledge, experience and tooling to produce the AIM-9X Block II missile to satisfy the Government requirements. Because a detailed knowledge and expertise of the AIM-9X Block II missile is required to meet deliveries under this contract, Raytheon is the only known source capable of accomplishing this requirement in the required time frame and without substantial duplication of costs.
