The contract seeks sources for the production of up to 59 Common Missile Warning Systems (CMWS) AN/AAR-57, designed to detect incoming surface-to-air missile threats and provide timely audiovisual warnings to pilots of rotary and fixed-wing aircraft. The initial delivery of four systems is expected within 90 days of contract award, with the overall contract being a firm fixed-price agreement lasting three years. The CMWS integrates an Improved Countermeasure Dispenser (ICMD) capable of deploying multiple expendable types such as flares, chaff, and smoke/aerosol for defensive countermeasures. Key components of the AN/AAR-57 include an Electronic Control Unit (weighing no more than 17 pounds), between four and six Electro Optical Sensors (each not exceeding 3 pounds and 4.275 inches in depth), and up to four ICMDs composed of sequencers and smart dispenser buckets. The ICMD system supports the latest Army expendable munitions and can monitor firings on cue, with capacity to recognize at least sixteen payload codes. It must also interface seamlessly with the specified aircraft without requiring unique software configurations. Additionally, the contractor is expected to provide shop-replaceable spare units compatible with existing AN/AAR-57 systems fielded to the Special Operations Aviation Regiment. Notably, the government holds limited rights to the system's technical data and lacks a full technical data package.
