The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) plans to award a sole source contract to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children's Hospital of Spokane, WA, an entity of Providence Health and Services-Washington, to support the CDC-sponsored Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) Surveillance System. This contract will utilize the unique and comprehensive CURE-CKD registry, which encompasses a longitudinal database of 2.5 million individuals across six western states with CKD, diabetes, prediabetes, and hypertension. The registry contains detailed clinical data from 2006 to 2017 and is continually updated. It enables precise monitoring of mortality, End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), and cardiovascular disease (CVD) risks in patients through linkages to national and state death registries and renal data systems, offering unrivaled clinical phenotyping depth and scope that is not commercially available. The award, anticipated around June 15, 2019, is a non-competitive procurement, but the CDC invites any firms with the capability to fulfill the requirements to notify the contracting office by March 22, 2019, with written capability statements. The decision to proceed without competition is solely at the Government's discretion and based on submissions received. The contract will be performed in Spokane, WA, under NAICS code 622110, with designated points of contact identified for inquiries. This action underlines the CDC’s reliance on the established and scientifically robust CURE-CKD registry to advance knowledge regarding CKD-related health risks using real-world clinical data.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to award, on a sole source basis, a contract to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children's Hospital of Spokane, WA; an entity of Providence Health and Services- Washington. The purpose of this procurement is to permit the CDC-sponsored Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) Surveillance System to determine modern-day risks of mortality, End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), and Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) among patients with, and at-risk for, CKD using a unique and curated real-world database from two large healthcare systems in the United States. The Center for Kidney Disease Research, Education and Hope for Chronic Kidney Disease (CURE-CKD) is a comprehensive registry of 2.5 million people across six (6) western states with CKD, diabetes, prediabetes, and/or hypertension. To date the continuously updated registry contains data from the years 2006-2017. To the best of the Government's knowledge, no commercially available product exists in the marketplace that will provide the size, scope, or depth of clinical phenotyping offered by the CURE-CKD registry. CURE-CKD registry verifies occurrences of ESRD, deaths, and causes of death through linkages between the United States Renal Data System (USRDS), National Death Index, Social Security Death Index, and state death registries. By virtue, the CURE-CKD Registry is uniquely qualified and capable of carrying out the requirement of this proposed contract. The anticipated award date is 15 June 2019. This is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. Firms that believe they can provide this requirement are encouraged to identify themselves and give written notification, as well as, a capability statement to the contracting office by 12:00 p.m. eastern standard time 22 March 2019. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed action based on responses to this notice is solely within its discretion. Information will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Inquiries may be sent to the attention of Donna J Myler by e-mail at dmyler@cdc.gov or by fax 770-488-2670.
