An Advanced Explosive Ordnance Disposal Robot System (AEODRS) Industry Day was scheduled for January 17, 2007, at the Naval Heritage Center in Washington, DC, to engage industry, academia, and government agencies early in the development of a next-generation unmanned ground vehicle system for explosive ordnance disposal. The AEODRS aims to support Joint EOD forces in countering threats from unexploded ordnance and improvised explosive devices, with a development timeline including a two-year Technology Development Phase followed by a two to three-year System Development and Demonstration Phase. Initial production was anticipated around 2013, with the system expected to significantly surpass current technologies to effectively operate in future combat environments between 2013 and 2020. The Industry Day provided a platform for participants to gain insights into the program, ask questions, and offer input, although attendance was not mandatory for future proposals. The event featured briefings on joint service EOD robotics and specific AEODRS details, with no one-on-one meetings scheduled for the day, but plans for such meetings were to be discussed. Registration was required by January 5, 2007, and all discussions remained unclassified. The announcement served solely as an information-sharing opportunity and did not constitute a solicitation or commitment by the government to contract or reimburse for any submitted materials or efforts.
