The Province is seeking to retain a qualified archaeological contractor to provide archaeological services in support of implementation stage infrastructure deactivation works along an approximately 67 kilometre segment of the Kettle Valley Rail Trail (KVRT) between the town of Princeton and Brodie Siding Road (Larsen Hill, Coquihalla Hwy).These works are being implemented in an area of complex overlapping Indigenous interests; across multiple watersheds; terrain features; and infrastructure types and represents a deactivation program estimated in excess of $19M.A Heritage Investigation Permit (HIP 2024-0292) is available for archaeological impact assessment and mitigation associated with these activities. Archaeological services are required in advance of, and concurrently with, construction activities in order to complete works within the temporary eligible funding window, to support compliance with the Heritage Conservation Act, and minimize implementation delays associated with archaeological discoveries.Services will be required on an as needed basis across multiple concurrent work locations throughout the corridor (See Section 3.3 Scope for details)This contract is being offered with an Option To Renew for 4 additional 12 month terms (5 terms total). In addition, the Contractor may request an increase in the bid pricing for any extension term of the Contract, limited to any increases, if any, as supported by the Canadian Consumer Price Index or 2% whichever is lower.The value of this contract over the full 5 years is variable depending on the outcome of the assessments.Further details as to the scope of this opportunity and the requirements can be found within this RFP.
