The Sierra Nevada Conservancy is managing a forecast for the Arnold Avery Trail Reconciliation, Wayfinding and Outdoor Literacy Project to provide grant funding to the Arnold Rim Trail Association. This project focuses on trail modifications and the implementation of signage across a 28-mile trail system that connects the communities of Arnold, Avery, and Hathaway Pines, offering curated opportunities for hikers, cyclists, and equestrians. The work is located within the Stanislaus National Forest in California. To comply with state agency requirements, the Sierra Nevada Conservancy has conducted a comprehensive CEQA review, including an Initial Study and a proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration. This environmental review process, which includes assessments of potential impacts on bald eagles and coordination with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the U.S. Forest Service, is a prerequisite for issuing the grant. A public comment period was established from September 24, 2026, to October 26, 2026, to support the final decision regarding the project funding.
