The Government of Canada is seeking a qualified contractor to perform roof restoration and hazardous material abatement at the Turner Valley Gas Plant in Alberta, specifically targeting six selected buildings with metal corrugated roofs requiring conservation and encapsulation. The scope involves repairing localized damage such as holes and applying a combination of clear coatings and silver paint to safely encapsulate existing lead-based paint on the roofs and associated exterior infrastructure, including catwalks, pipes, and stack bases. Each roof presents unique challenges due to varying sizes, structural features, and levels of degradation, necessitating a contractor with proven expertise in both metal roof repair and safe lead paint management. The work must be executed with precision to ensure long-term durability and compliance with environmental and safety standards. The solicitation, identified as AB-2026-02858, was posted on May 13, 2026, with proposals due by June 5, 2026. The project is managed by the Department of Arts, Culture and Status of Women under the Government of Canada, with Christina Robinson serving as the primary point of contact. Despite the title referencing arts and culture, the physical location and nature of the work are tied to a federal industrial facility in Alberta. Contractors must demonstrate experience in hazardous material abatement and roof restoration on complex industrial sites, as the project demands specialized knowledge to handle lead containment without disruption to surrounding operations or risks to personnel or the environment.
