Atlas Towers / Development Plan & Coastal Development Permit / C-DRC2024-00027 (ED25-0009)

Atlas Towers is seeking a Development Plan and Coastal Development Permit (C-DRC2024-00027) from San Luis Obispo County for the construction and operation of a wireless communications facility. Located at 400 Monte Cristo Place in Cambria, California, the project is situated within the Coastal Zone of the North Coast Planning Area on a 614-acre parcel categorized for agricultural land use. The proposed facility consists of a 65-foot monopole with six panel antennas and six remote radio units mounted on a 69-foot faux monopole designed to blend with existing vegetation and remain invisible from major public corridors. Ancillary equipment includes a 48kW diesel generator, equipment cabinets, and a PG&E transformer, all housed within an 8-foot-tall fenced enclosure. The project will result in a land disturbance of approximately 7,050 square feet. It has been granted a Categorical Exemption (Class 3) under CEQA Guidelines Section 15303, as the construction is considered minor in nature with minimal environmental impact. Approval was granted on September 25, 2025, by the Planning Commission and the Planning Department Hearing Officer. Administrative oversight is managed by Dominic Dal Porto of San Luis Obispo County, and the project is owned by Cornelius Whitehead of Atlas Towers.
