The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) plans to issue a sole source purchase order valued at $30,000 to the University of Lund in Sweden for specialized analytical services. These services involve quantifying levels of ergosterol and 3-OHFA in floor dust samples collected as part of the Hartford Office Building Study. The University of Lund is recognized globally for its expertise in developing advanced analytical protocols using GC-MS/MS technology to measure these specific biological markers, which are crucial for investigating building dampness, fungal contamination, and related respiratory health effects. CDC’s choice of University of Lund is based on the university being the only institution capable of meeting the precise requirements of this contract, which includes processing 150 units each of ergosterol and 3-OHFA. While this is a sole source acquisition, the CDC is inviting other interested parties to submit proposals or quotes within fifteen days of the notice’s publication to determine if a competitive procurement is warranted. All responses will be considered solely for this purpose, and the decision to proceed without competition rests entirely with the government. The contract specialist handling this procurement is Ronnie E. Francis, who can be contacted via email or fax as provided.
