The 45th Contracting Squadron plans to negotiate two sole source contracts with Schafer Corporation in Massachusetts and McCrone Associates, Inc. in Illinois to conduct specialized forensic analysis involving the processing and analysis of particle samples. These contracts are justified under federal regulations due to the unique capabilities and exclusive expertise held by each contractor, with no other suppliers able to meet the agency’s requirements. The contracts will be structured as cost-plus-fixed-fee agreements, initially set for a one-year base period with the possibility of up to five additional one-year options, supporting a multi-year program. Contractor personnel must hold Department of Defense security clearances at the SECRET NO FOREIGN level, with facilities also requiring secure communication capabilities and an approved Nuclear Regulatory radioactive materials license. The contract is classified under NAICS code 541380 with a size standard of $10 million, and no solicitation document will be issued due to the sole source nature of the acquisition. The Department of Defense office overseeing this effort is based at Patrick Space Force Base in Florida, and the point of contact for the contract is Contract Specialist Lois E. Brockson.
