The USAF UAV Battlelab is hosting an Industry Day event from May 15 to 17, 2006, focused on demonstrating lightweight sensor technology for use on small air-launched Unmanned Aircraft Systems. This event is a market research opportunity rather than a solicitation, with no guarantee of a subsequent Request for Proposal. The primary objective is to showcase the camera capabilities of off-board sensing reconnaissance systems, with all demonstrations conducted from ground locations. Key camera requirements include a maximum weight of 2.5 pounds for camera and lens, the ability to identify a 0.5 meter target at a 2000-foot slant range, and specific infrared and electro-optical sensitivity thresholds. Each participating company must present a complete camera setup, including lenses, power supply, display monitors, and connection hardware, and is limited to two representatives with presentations capped at 15 minutes. The demonstration will take place at Creech Air Force Base in Nevada and will involve five phases across varied settings, including daytime, nighttime with different moon phases, indoor spectrum testing, and urban light environments. Participating companies must cover their own costs and submit technical specifications by May 12, 2006. Attendance is voluntary and requires signing a demonstration agreement, with all demonstrations conducted in a publicly observable setting. Companies interested in participating or seeking further details are directed to contact 1st Lt Lisa Ohrenberger. The schedule is tightly structured, balancing equipment setup, multiple demonstration phases, and briefing sessions over the three-day event.
