Full Description

Transport Canada intends to enhance, maintain, and improve the Ballast Water Database (currently operated by MongoDB) capabilities through the addition of several new functions and features, such as Biofouling activities. These new features will allow both Transport Canada and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans to better access ballast water data in real-time, and to facilitate access on historical data, facilitating research related to environmental impacts of ballast water activities, such as minimize introductions of aquatic invasive species. The overall idea of this project is to standardize the data from ports and countries, increase the system performance, and improve its security for public access.
