In a recent update to Barrier Dam Facility Plan, it was noted in the report that the Dam’s trash racks (which are approaching 80 years old) are deteriorated. SMU staff have determined that it is not cost-effective to rehabilitate trash racks.
Therefore, SMU is requesting a proposal to develop a design and construction bid package to replace the trash racks at the Mill Creek Barrier Dam. This work will involve the a) development of a plan to dredge, remove, and dispose of the silt in the Dam’s forebay, b) design of new trash racks, c) development of a construction bid package to replace the current trash racks with newly manufactured trash racks and d) construction oversight.
